san juan bautista is a pretty nice town near hollister-ish. really small town. the walk, although quite nice, pretty much just went criss-crossing around the downtown area. we got pretty familiar with some of the businesses in downtown.

town has lotsa lotsa olive trees.
also lotsa lotsa peppercorn trees. i love love LOVE the smell of my hand after i take a handful of the blooms and crush it in my palm.
also lots of chickens and roosters. they just roam the streets. they're like feral cats. they're not caged or anything. they're just... there.
had a nice lunch at jardines de san juan. a nice-ish mexican place. we ate in their really pretty patio and they had 2 guitarists playing. they also had a resident cat. it was a very sweet cat. it hung out with me and joe while we were munching on our chips and waiting for our entrees. i accidentally dropped some chicken and rice on the ground while eating my meal. kitty was called away by the hostess and she was gone for a bit. we finished our meal and our server took our plates away. we saw kitty come back and we tried to get her to come over again. she looked at us, then walked to another table. lil' bitch saw that we no longer had our plates and knew there was no more food that would accidentally fall on the floor! evil cat.
stopped for ice cream, too.
they also had one bakery and i bought a loaf of maple pecan loaf. soooo good. it's like pancakes drenched in maple topped with chopped pecans. a party in every bite.
anyway, nice walk, but got pretty repetitive.
